L'histoire de Wojtek, l'ours soldat. Au cours de la seconde guerre mondiale, ourson orphelin de Syrie, Wojtek sera recueilli par l'armée polonaise. Il l'accompagnera au cours de ses tribulations et de son exil. Mélé aux femmes et aux hommes de cette armée, il boit de la bière, fait des tours de garde, porte des munitions et joue à se battre. Doté de son livret militaire il se rendra en Syrie, en palestine, à Monte-Cassino et bien d'autres lieux encore. Il finira malheureusement au zoo d'Edimbourg, privé de la proximité des humains et ne verra jamais la Pologne.
